Abstract:
Spintronic devices have the advantages of low power consumption for information technology. It can be used to store information without constant power. Compared to charge current or polarized spin current, pure spin current carries only angular momentum but no net charge. Therefore, it can deliver maximum information with minimum energy. Pure spin current can be manipulated in not only ferromagnets but also antiferromagnets with negligible total magnetization. Moreover, pure spin current can propagate in magnetic insulator in the form of spin wave or magnon, which requires even less energy. In this talk, I will introduce experimental methods that can be used to manipulate pure spin current. I will also discuss its potential applications for spintronic devices.
