Abstract:

In this talk, recent progress on the development of compact ultrafast intense lasers and high quality laser plasma accelerators at Tsinghua University will be presented.  For the laser development, the effort has been focused on building robust turn-key compact Ti:Sapphire laser system for real life application of laser-driven radiation sources. For the development of laser wakefield accelerators (LWFA) and radiation sources, several key progress will be reported, including the first demonstration of wakefield structure and dynamic imaging using a femtosecond high energy electron beam generated by a LWFA, laser-driven x-ray generation based on LWFA, and the first demonstration of tunable relativistic, single-cycle infrared pulse generation from LWFA a tailored plasma structure.
