Abstract:
A three-dimensional Weyl semimetal, resembling a 3D graphene, is a nodal semimetal, in which linear electronic dispersion can be found near the node. The node, dubbed a Weyl point, can be viewed as a magnetic monopole in momentum space and carries a topological charge. The nontrivial topology will result in a unique topological surface state connecting a pair of Weyl points. In this talk, I will introduce some basic knowledge of topology and symmetry for this subject, and then report our recent progress on the Weyl semimetals in TaAs class.
