Abstract:
Photoemission spectroscopy is a surface-sensitive spectroscopic method extensively utilized for surface characterization. In this presentation, I will give a short introduction to photoemission spectroscopy. The concepts of x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) will be explained, and some examples utilizing these techniques will be provided. If time permits, the theory of operation of synchrotron radiation and the current status of the synchrotron light sources in Taiwan will also be discussed.
