Coherent Manipulation of Single Photons

Manipulation of single photons is a promising way to control the light-matter interaction at the single photon level. In this talk, we will review our previous work using four-wave mixing in atomic ensemble as well as our present work using parametric down-conversion in nonlinear crystal. The latter provides more flexibilities and possibilities when controlling the light-matter interaction, which is crucial for realizing advanced technologies such as quantum computation, communication, and networking.
