許多長期、基本的熱及功相關的微觀"Gedankenexperiment (思想實驗)" 仍未被探索,部分原因是缺乏快速和高度精確的實驗技術來調節微觀世界中的溫度和位能。我們提供了一種有力的方法,透過移動單個鐳射束同時控制位能和溫度,並演示了各種熱力學過程和微觀熱機。這項技術將為檢驗這一領域的不同理論思想鋪平道路。

Many long-standing, fundamental heat- and work-related microscopic ‘Gedankenexperiment’ remain unexplored, partly due to the lack of swift and highly precise experimental techniques to adjust temperature and potentials in the microscopic world. We provided a powerful method to simultaneously control potentials and temperature by shifting a single laser beam and demonstrated various thermodynamic processes and microscopic heat engines. This technique will pave the new way for the test of diverse theoretical ideas in this field.
