We plan to have an excursion trip for an afternoon (Oct 5, Wed) for interesting ICFP participants and companions. Of course there is also the reception party (Oct 3, Mon) and conference banquet (Oct 7, Fri). For those who can stay beyond the week of the meeting, you may want to check out the post-conference tours.

As some of you may be interested in visiting the Palace Museum, let's tell you something about it. We actually have considered putting that as an option for the excursion. The museum is inside Taipei city, a ride for about an hour from our campus. Unfortunately, it is under renovation this year. It's still open, but with limited exhibits. Hence, we are NOT arranging such a trip. It is not difficult to make the trip on your own, if you think it may still worth it.

Excursion (Oct 5, Wed):
you may choose one among the two available options.

A: Taipei Country Yingge Ceramics Museum

• Yingge is a famous ceramic town about half-an-hour from Chung-li
• besides the museum, there is a tourist shopping street and many private galleries
• to just relax, get a feeling about the ceramic culture and maybe buy some souvenirs, visit the tourist shopping street; one can also get food there or get your hands onto the clay
• to see the best art works, ceramics and beyond, visit the private galleries (shops); one can easily spend hours there

B: Siaowulai waterfall & Jiaobanshan park

• a visit to the countryside about 40km east of Chung-li towards the mountains
• a taste of the beautiful landscape of Taiwan, accessible for an afternoon trip
