Research interests are in the fields of atomic physics and quantum electrodynamics, especially in the theory of electron and photon interactions in atomic fields. The basic theoretical framework for these studies is their description as single-electron transition processes in a potential, i.e., the target atom is described by a central potential. The formalism corresponds to Furry's extension of the usual Feynman-Dyson formulation of quantum electrodynamics which includes the interaction of the electrons with the atomic field in the unperturbed Hamiltonian. The main current interest is to study atomic pair production for photon energies above 5 MeV, and to investigate the elementary process of electron bremsstrahlung from atoms with the partial-wave method.
